How do I enroll in a MOOC?

To enroll in a MOOC, visit the main MOOC Menu Page and click on the MOOC of your choice to view a course overview.  Some overviews include a brief video introducing the course.  On each course page, you can click the Enroll Now button to enroll in a course or view the “How to Enroll” video for a walk through on how to enroll into a course.

When is the deadline to enroll for courses?

All courses are open enrollment within a given time period and are offered multiple times throughout the year.

How long will it take for me to complete a course?

All courses are self-paced and on average, take about 8 hours to complete.

Is there a fee for taking any of the MOOCs?

All the courses are completely free. An optional certificate of completion is available for purchase.

Will I receive University credit for completing a MOOC?

At this time, university credit will not be awarded for the completion of any FIU Open Education courses, including MOOCs.

I enrolled for a course, but it hasn’t started yet and I cannot view the course content. What do I do now?

The course content will not be available until the course begins. Once you Log in, under the “My Classes” section on the top right of the page, you can view the “Student Orientation: Your Path to Success” to get better understanding of how to use CourseSites.

If I complete a course, will I receive a certificate?

There is an option to purchase a certificate of completion once you complete the course. Fees apply.

When I complete the course, will I automatically be eligible to purchase a certificate?

All courses require a minimum score/grade in order for a course enrollee to purchase a certificate. Once the course is completed, and you have reached the minimum requirement, you will be able to purchase the certificate. Please see your course syllabus/homepage for more information.

How long would it take for me to receive my certificate?

Please allow 3-5 business days so that we may review your course performance and communicate with you in regards to your certificate.

How would I receive the certificate? Do I receive a confirmation email?

Once we issue the certificate, you will receive an email letting you know the certificate is available for you to download and/or print.

How can I suggest a new course?

We welcome suggestions for future courses.  Please suggest a new course topics by visiting our “Suggest a Course” link on our main MOOC menu page or visit Suggest a Course.
